The Almira Historical Society (AHS) was formed in 1992 by a group of citizens devoted to collecting and preserving the history of Almira Township and the Village of Lake Ann. Through the efforts of many individuals funds were raised to purchase land and build a museum where more than 1,500 local artifacts are on display. The Society has a single goal: to preserve our heritage and provide a lasting legacy to future generations.
The museum opened in 2003. Some of the artifacts displayed include the early Lake Ann Post Office and the telephone switchboard used in Lake Ann before dial phones. The museum is located at 19440 Maple Street in the Village of Lake Ann. It is open on Saturday and Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day.
